Your voice for the future, with experience
from the past

Sisters and Brothers,

My name is Kenny Janulewicz, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for the position of National Business Agent for Region 14. I don't make this decision lightly; I make it as a dedicated letter carrier who has walked the same routes as you, faced the same challenges, and felt the same pride in serving our communities. I began working for the Postal Service in 1995 as a Casual Carrier. In 1997 I became a Transitional Employee during the DPS implementation phase. In 1998 I was promoted to a career city letter carrier by becoming a Part-Time Flexible. I’ve always been invested in the success of letter carriers as I became an On-the-Job Instructor, a Carrier Academy Facilitator, and an Ad-Hoc Driving Instructor/Examiner.

Postal service has seemingly always been in my blood. My paternal grandfather worked as a pouch clerk and my father was not only a city letter carrier, but a Union steward as well. As a third-generation postal employee I have an insight for the history of our jobs, and an understanding of the needs of both active and retired letter carriers, as my father is currently in his 22nd year of retirement.

For 27 years, I have had the honor of serving this union, from my first day as a shop steward on the workroom floor in Worcester, MA, to the Vice President, Executive Vice President, and President of Branch 12, to my most recent role as your Regional Administrative Assistant here in Region 14 for the past five years. Through it all, one principle has guided me: the strength of our union lies in the solidarity and well-being of its members.

I am a product of our membership. Being involved with our Union over the last three decades has given me the opportunity and privilege to become a trained Arbitration Advocate in 2004, a graduate of the second Leadership Academy Class in 2006, a certified DRT representative, and a facilitator for the Advanced Formal A & Beyond program at the headquarters level. These and other NALC produced training programs would not have been possible for me to attend and/or be a part of without the support of our membership. For this I am grateful.

We are at a critical juncture. Management continues to push unilateral changes, leveraging new technologies not to improve our service, but to increase our burdens. We face constant battles over route adjustments, inadequate staffing, mistreatment of our injured Sisters and Brothers, letter carrier safety, and a disciplinary process that is too often used for intimidation rather than correction. The safety of our carriers, whether from extreme weather, hazardous conditions, or the rising threat of violence on the streets, must be our absolute highest priority. These are not just line items in a contract; they are the daily realities that affect our lives, our families, and our ability to do our jobs safely and professionally.

As your National Business Agent, I will bring a proactive and unwavering approach to confronting these challenges. My pledge to you is built on three core pillars: Enforcement, Education, and Engagement.

Enforcement: We will aggressively enforce the language of our National Agreement, as well as our applicable Handbooks and Manuals. I will ensure that our arbitration advocates have the resources, training, and support necessary to win grievances and hold management accountable. We will not concede on issues that compromise the rights and protections you have earned and deserve.

Education: A well-informed membership is an empowered membership. I will work tirelessly to continue to provide our local branch officers and stewards with the highest level of training on contract administration, grievance handling, and organizing. Whether it be to come directly to you, or through Regional training sessions across New England, or at our new NALC membership-owned office building in Westboro, MA, training and education will be available to anyone who seeks it. When your local representatives are confident and prepared, the entire Union is stronger.

Engagement: I will be a visible and accessible National Business Agent. My door will not be closed to any members. I will travel throughout the Region, to every state, visiting your stations, listening to your concerns, and ensuring that the voice of the letter carrier on the workroom floor is heard at the highest levels of our Union. Your fight is my fight. This is my commitment to you.

This campaign is not about one person; it is about reclaiming our collective power. It is about ensuring that every letter carrier is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. We are the backbone of the Postal Service, and I will continue to make sure postal management never forgets it. I want to be your voice for the future, with experience from the past. I humbly ask for your support, your trust, and your vote.

In Solidarity,

Kenny Janulewicz
